Along with iTunes 10, Apple introduced a new app icon which many people very much dislike. To me, the icon really isn’t that bad, it just isn’t exactly a show-stopper either. Though I have already seen a lot of great completely new concepts, I decided to keep the app easily identifiable by using Apple’s latest concept, a circle with music symbol inside.

I reworked the concept, making it 3D and just a bit more intricate overall. In the download you’ll find four themes: blue, purple, black and multicolor. Each one was drawn in seven sizes and is packaged for Mac, Windows, and PNGs for Linux. All design work was done in Photoshop and packaged using Icon Composer and CandyBar. Enjoy!

    Thank you so much for this. Now I can start looking at iTunes again. We’ve all seen a lot of iTunes-icons these days, but yours surely blew them all away. And they’re not that far from the original either. Nicely done!

    On a Mac:
    • Quit iTunes if it’s running.
    • Go into your Applications folder, select iTunes.
    • Right click on the icon and select Show Package Contents.
    • Go under the Resources folder and make a copy of iTunes.icns on your desktop (for backup purposes).
    • Replace it with the new iTunes.icns file (make sure it’s named the same)
    • Start or restart iTunes.
